The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) sent a letter today to the House Energy and Commerce Committee ahead of the committee’s mark up of their budget reconciliation legislation in support of key provisions to bolster local health departments’ pandemic response.
On December 28, 2020, the most recent in a series of COVID-19 relief packages was signed into law. The bill was passed as part of a larger end-of-year deal in combination with the omnibus FY21 appropriations legislation to fund the government through the end of the fiscal year in September 2021.
As communities continue to implement physical distancing recommendations to slow the spread of COVID-19, many have turned to innovative solutions to address social isolation and loneliness. Local government and community leaders have enlisted technology to aid in strengthening social connection. At the same time, many have taken steps to close gaps in access to technology.
As part of the National Association of County and City Health Officials’ (NACCHO’s) work to support and serve 3,000 local health departments (LHDs) in the United States, NACCHO will be releasing a bi-weekly blog consisting of an up-to-date collection of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) resources for our members working at the intersection of environmental health and COVID-19.
