This letter from NACCHO and other public health partners requests an additional $450 million in the next COVID-19 supplemental package for the Data Modernization Initiative. It also requests Congress include robust language in the next COVID-19 supplemental in support of data modernization at CDC and local and state health departments.
As Congress continues to work on legislation related to the COVID-19 response, we encourage Congress to ensure sufficient national capacity for a robust contact tracing workforce that builds on existing state, territorial, local, tribal, and federal health agency disease investigation programs to quickly identify and isolate COVID-19 cases.
NACCHO has successfully advocated for billions of dollars in federal funding for the public health response to COVID-19 and continues to seek additional funding.
