Local public health departments serve as the Community Chief Health Strategists for their communities, mobilizing community action to strengthen infrastructure, and form strategic partnerships across sectors and jurisdictions.

These competencies outline practices to help build healthy communities, including: developing strategies for promoting health and well-being that work most effectively for communities of today and tomorrow; identifying, analyzing, and distributing information from new, big, and real time data sources; and collaborating with a broad array of allies, including those at the neighborhood-level and the non-health sectors to build healthier and more vital communities. These tools also include resources to help guide your work.
