If a person in Florida becomes ill with Ebola, the most likely scenario will be that the patient has a known travel-history to a country with an Ebola outbreak. If this scenario occurs, the Florida Department of Health will begin monitoring this person upon arrival in the state. This monitoring phase will allow the Florida Department of Health to have advanced notice of any developing symptoms within the potential Ebola patient. Therefore, Department of Health Incident Management Team members may begin acting on several of the objectives and actions listed in this playbook prior to receiving the positive test result and the initial operating period.
