The purpose of the Epidemiology Annex is to identify systems and protocols for the surveillance and investigation of diseases of public health importance and to prepare the health department to respond to an infectious disease outbreak or bioterrorism event. Processes are addressed to quickly determine the source of the emergency and prevent the spread of the infection or agent, and to minimize morbidity and mortality. This plan was submitted as supporting evidence for Project Public Health Ready Goal 1: All-Hazards Preparedness Planning – Epidemiological Investigation Tasks.
