This plan explains the need to handle the communication of information to the media during an emergency. The goals of this plan are to increase the credibility and capacity of the Division by: Providing vital and timely information to all stakeholders; Displaying the Division's authority; Maintaining the Division's operations and diminish the impact of the crisis; and, Using the media to assist in the crisis management and recovery. This plan gives steps that should be taken before, during, and after an emergency situation, and provide a thorough description of the need for each step in the communication process.
