This tool is a 4-part PowerPoint training program that provides an introduction to the use of Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) materials. The visually-appealing presentations are most useful for training individuals with little or no experience in SNS. Local health departments outside of Kentucky should review the materials carefully and make any necessary changes to them so that they are consistent with local and state plans. Each PowerPoint presents a different aspect of SNS. -The first PowerPoint defines SNS and provides a background on the program. It provides an overview of deployment, distribution and state and local responsibilities. The second PowerPoint introduces the concept of Points of Dispensing (PODs). It describes when a POD should be opened and provides an example of a POD flow diagram. It recommends an Incident Command Structure (ICS) for the organization of POD staff. The third PowerPoint explains the purpose and functions the Distribution Node where supplies are distributed. The fourth PowerPoint introduces the function of a department operations center (DOC) and describes the concept of operations. The last part of the tool is an Excel spreadsheet that outlines the minimum, recommended, and optional trainings for staff of all levels.
