Sumter County Emergency Management oversees a special needs program which includes identifying and registering persons with special needs, disseminating disaster preparedness information, maintaining an up-dated registry, and providing assistance transportation and sheltering during disasters. This program is provided under State and Local policies and planning guidelines as service to county residents. All policies and procedures outlined in this Plan have been developed with input from a number of agencies, organizations and individuals who are involved in various aspects of care for the medically dependent citizens of Sumter County. Many of these agencies and organizations are also committed to participating in special needs operations.
