The Levy County Health Department Special Needs Shelter Plan has been developed to prepare the health department to operate a special needs shelter to provide a safe refuge for residents with special medical needs and prevent deterioration of their health status in time of a disaster. This document applies to all phases (preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation) of an emergency situation. This plan incorporates the National Incident Management System (NIMS) principles and utilizes the Incident Command System (ICS) in all response activities.
