In 2011, NWCPHP collaborated with the Washington State Department of Health to survey the training needs, interests, and modality preferences of their public health workforce. The assessment was created using CDC's Public Health Preparedness Capabilities: National Standards for State and Local Planning as well as the Public Health Preparedness & Response Core Competency Model. The instrument assessed current confident levels and training needs in public health emergencies and included questions on delivery preferences, barriers to training, and priority general workforce development topics areas. A sample assessment instrument is available on the organization's website, along with results of an assessment performed in the northwest region of the United States and example training plan template.
