Lend Your Expertise: Become a 2026 PPHR National Reviewer

Apr 29, 2026 | Leila Blais

Looking for a meaningful way to make an impact in public health preparedness? Become a Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) National Reviewer for the 2026 Cycle and play a key role in strengthening local health departments across the country.

PPHR National Reviewers are at the heart of the program—bringing expertise, perspective, and rigor to the review process. In this role, you’ll evaluate applications from local health departments across the country and provide meaningful feedback that helps strengthen real-world preparedness efforts. Your insight helps ensure the process remains fair, consistent, and impactful.

Why become a PPHR National Reviewer?

  • Make a tangible impact on preparedness efforts in communities nationwide
  • Connect with a diverse network of public health preparedness professionals
  • Learn from innovative approaches and emerging practices happening across the field

What to Expect

  • August 2026: Complete a one-hour virtual orientation and training assessment
  • September–October: Review 2–3 applications over six weeks (~50 hours total)
  • November–December:  Review additional evidence submitted by applicants
  • May–June: Review refined submission from qualified applicants (participation varies)
  • Throughout review period: Join collaborative team calls
