Welcome to the CIFOR NACCHO Representatives Webpage!

Nov 06, 2024 | Olivia Turay

The new page introduces current and former CIFOR representatives from NACCHO, whose expertise range from environmental health to food safety management.

The Council to Improve Foodborne Outbreak Response (CIFOR) is a multidisciplinary coalition working to improve detection, investigation, control, and prevention of foodborne illness outbreaks. Founded in 2006, CIFOR brings together national public health experts from states, local, and federal agencies including, but not limited to, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE), National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), National Environmental Health Association (NEHA), Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO), Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL), Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

On this new NACCHO webpage, you can explore CIFOR’s key products and initiatives from over the years and how NACCHO local health department (LHD) representatives play a key role in shaping strategies to prevent foodborne illness. You can also explore the latest CIFOR tools, such as toolkits and learning modules, that are designed to help LHDs strengthen their response capabilities.

How can more LHD staff get involved with CIFOR?

Whether you are a public health professional or an industry stakeholder, you can actively participate in CIFOR’s mission by:

  • joining a CIFOR workgroup,
  • participating in webinars and trainings, or
  • helping promote CIFOR tools that enhance local health department foodborne illness response.
