Fostering Local Wastewater Monitoring Network (FLoW-Net): NACCHO’s New Community of Practice Now Open to All Local Health Departments

Feb 05, 2025 | Nikita Kheni

Wastewater monitoring is a rapidly evolving tool that can be used to test for SARS-CoV-2 and other pathogens, serving as an early warning system for local health departments (LHDs) and government officials to identify and respond to public health threats in their communities.

FLoW-Net is a Community of Practice designed to bring together LHD staff interested in wastewater monitoring regardless of their level of experience. FLoW-Net will also serve as a platform for LHDs working on wastewater monitoring to request and provide technical assistance, share resources, and collaborate on addressing existing and emerging public health concerns.

NACCHO will host virtual monthly meetings for FLoW-Net members to hear from local jurisdictions and subject-matter experts who are working in this field about a variety of topics related to wastewater monitoring (e.g., sampling, testing, partnerships, communications, decision-making). Through the Virtual Community platform and its online meetings, FLoW-Net offers opportunities for members to collaborate and network, share knowledge and best practices, ask questions, and request technical assistance.

To join the Network, please fill out a brief survey using this link or the QR code below: https://naccho.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eQezBD0W4LHPeNE
