Washington, DC, June 2, 2025 — The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), the voice of the country’s over 3,300 local health departments has awarded a total of $400,000 to 10 local health departments to strengthen their immunization outreach for people of all ages, with the goal of improving public health by increasing vaccine uptake and building community trust.
Through the Strengthening Immunization Program Communications and Outreach Capacity Project, local health departments will assess and refine their existing communication materials and strategies. They will also receive training, technical assistance, and additional resources to assist them in evaluating and developing effective immunization communication materials, adopting best practices, and engaging in collaborative learning experiences through peer-to-peer mentorship opportunities. The project is set to conclude on July 31, 2025.
The following local health departments were awarded $40,000 each:
- County of Santa Clara Public Health Department, California
- Martin County Health Department, Kentucky
- Portland Public Health Division, Maine
- Genesee County Health Department, Michigan
- Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County, Ohio
- Trumbull County Combined Health District, Ohio
- Multnomah County Health Department, Oregon
- Umatilla County Public Health Department, Oregon
- Andrews County Health Department, Texas
- Cameron County Public Health, Texas
