Applications for the Local Health Department of the Year, the Maurice “Mo” Mullet Lifetime of Service, and the newly developed National Advocate of the Year awards are open. Apply by April 27.
The Local Health Department (LHD) of the Year award recognizes outstanding work conducted by LHDs around the nation. It is an opportunity to share the success of colleagues, and celebrate the achievements of LHDs in the national spotlight of NACCHO’s Annual Conference. The theme for the 2018 LHD of the Year Award is Chief Health Strategist.
The 2018 Maurice “Mo” Mullet Lifetime of Service Award honors current or former local health officials for noteworthy service to NACCHO that has reflect the commitment, vigor, and leadership exemplified by Mo’s distinguished career. Mo Mullet served on the NACCHO Board of Directors for three years, Vice President for four years, and President from 1992-2004. During his career, Mo achieved statewide and national recognition as a leader among local health officials and in the field of public health. The award recipient will be recognized at the 2018 NACCHO Annual conference.
The 2018 National Advocate of the Year Award is a new award that seeks to recognize outstanding accomplishments related to advocacy and outreach to Members of the United States Congress that contributed to better health policy outcomes in calendar year 2017. Local health department staff who have engaged in a wide range of advocacy efforts are eligible to apply. Award recipients will be selected by the NACCHO Past President’s Council and be recognized at NACCHO Annual 2018 in New Orleans, July 2018.
