MyNACCHO LoginThe CDC has released a new CDC Hurricane Dashboard is a pre- and post- hurricane event tracking tool designed for public health and emergency response planners. The dashboard can be used to follow emerging and post-landfall storms by their origin and projected path, identify impacted populations, and aid in public health decision making.
With the CDC Hurricane Dashboard, you can:
- Identify and track active and recently active hurricanes and tropical storms that may affect the United States.
- Investigate geographies and populations of at-risk or affected areas using data including:
- FEMA-designated flood hazard areas
- Near real-time flood data from NASA’s MODIS satellite
- Demographic data
- Health characteristics of the impacted area, including number & percent of hospitals and hospital beds
- Add relevant points-of-interest layers to maps including nursing homes, pharmacies, and wastewater treatment plants, among others.
- Track real-time power outages.
Using the CDC Hurricane Dashboard
- Click on the name of a storm to track its origin, projected path, and other details.
- Select population characteristics to view data in different geographic scales, including census tract and county level.
- Gain further insights on populations in affected areas by selecting health characteristics and adding points of interest.
- Examine environmental characteristics, like flood hazards and air quality, that may worsen the effects of a hurricane on a community.
- Share dashboard data with others through links, an image file, or embed code.
