Now Accepting Applications for Roadmap to Ready–A Training and Mentoring Program for New Preparedness Coordinators

Nov 07, 2018

Emergency preparedness coordinators ensure that local health departments have planned for, can respond to, and can recover from public health emergencies. To help new emergency preparedness coordinators navigate the complex landscape of public health preparedness, the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO ) is offering a yearlong training and mentoring program called Roadmap to Ready. The program provides new preparedness coordinators from local and regional health departments with the knowledge, skills, connections, and resources they need to successfully lead and coordinate public health disaster and emergency preparedness planning and response activities in their jurisdictions.

The program uses a blended learning methodology, including an in-person workshop, coaching and mentoring with experience preparedness coordinators from around the country, and tailored resources. To date, Roadmap to Ready has trained more than 160 preparedness coordinators with the support of 28 mentors. There is no fee to participate in the program, but selected candidates as responsible for their travel expenses to attend the one-day training workshop. Applications for the 2019 program year for participants and mentors are now open until Nov. 30, 2018. Please visit the Roadmap to Ready Website to learn more and apply. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Deise Galan Leonel at [email protected].
