President Donald Trump has signed the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness and Advancing Innovation Act (PAHPAI) (S. 1379) into law following a 9-month delay in the reauthorization that expired September 30, 2018. PAHPAI supports local health department disaster preparedness efforts such as the Public Health Emergency Preparedness grant program and Hospital Preparedness Program. The law also strengthens the National Health Security Strategy, including global health security, and reauthorizes the Strategic National Stockpile and Public Health Emergency Medical Countermeasure Enterprise.
NACCHO released a statement applauding Congress for passing the bipartisan reauthorization.
