At the 2022 NACCHO360 Annual Conference, the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) and our partners explored how the local public health workforce and its stakeholders can move forward amid an ongoing crisis while implementing traditional and innovative approaches to restructure a system built to protect the health of communities nationwide.
The widespread global news of avian influenza in birds has more than likely raised a few hackle feathers from the general public. NACCHO asked influenza subject matter experts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), how local health departments can prepare for the possibility of human infections with these viruses and how to respond to public questions regarding H5N1.
The Council for Outbreak Response: Healthcare-Associated Infections & Antibiotic-Resistant Pathogens (CORHA), which includes representatives from local health departments on behalf of NACCHO, has released two draft chapters of the CORHA High-Level Guidance for Outbreaks of Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial-Resistant Pathogens.
The CIFOR Guidelines are a comprehensive source of information on foodborne disease investigation and control for local, state, territories, tribes, and federal health agencies.
The CIFOR Industry Guidelines were developed as voluntary guidance for owners, operators, and managers of retail food establishments (“Industry”) to help outline, clarify, and explain Industry’s recommended role in a foodborne illness outbreak investigation.
