Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness. Flu can also result in serious outcomes such as hospitalization or death. Older adults, young children and people with certain health conditions are at high risk for serious complications from flu.
Today, CDC released its October 2019 Vital Signs Report, & Burden and Prevention of Influenza and Pertussis Among U.S. Pregnant Women and Infants. This report includes the latest findings on influenza and Tdap (whooping cough) vaccination rates among pregnant women.
On October 8, 2019, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released the Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Surveillance Report, 2018. Devastatingly, rates of reportable STDs, syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea, surged for the fifth year in a row.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a report in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) titled Trends in Hepatitis C Infection by Opioid Use Disorder Status Among Pregnant Women at Delivery Hospitalization — United States, 2000–2015.

Measles is an acute febrile rash illness with an attack rate of approximately 90% in susceptible household contacts.
