Washington, DC, March 22, 2022 — The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), representing the country’s nearly 3,000 local health departments, has awarded more than $450,000 in funding to six Overdose Response Strategy pilot projects to help address the opioid crisis in their communities.
NACCHO will award up to five counties or cities to implement intervention to assess and respond to substance use related stigma within their communities.

NACCHO is pleased to offer a funding opportunity for a skilled facilitator to aid the six Overdose Response Strategy sites in strategic planning related to developing and expanding public health and public safety partnerships and effectively engaging people with lived experience, and project implementation and sustainability through both in-person and virtual meetings.
With support from the CDC, NACCHO is offering a funding opportunity to participate in a new mentorship program with peer local health departments to learn, share experiences, and exchange strategies for integrating health equity into drug overdose prevention and response work through the Health Equity and Overdose Prevention Mentorship Program.
In this funding opportunity, NACCHO will award up to ten high-burden counties or cities to implement activities that address their community’s challenges related to drug overdose through an interdisciplinary, comprehensive, and cohesive public health approach.
