Have you ever wondered where the creepy creatures with Halloween originated? Believe it or not, local health departments still keep these monsters at bay with the work they do every day.
The Shared Healthcare Intervention to Eliminate Life-Threatening Dissemination of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) in Orange County (SHIELD OC) Program, was a CDC-funded public health regional decolonization collaborative to combat the spread of endemic and emerging MDROs across healthcare facilities in Orange County, California.
The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology Association (SHEA), and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS) are pleased to announce the Leaders in Epidemiology, Antimicrobial Stewardship and Public Health (LEAP) Fellowship Award for the 2023–2024 academic year.

Get Ahead of Sepsis is a national educational effort that emphasizes the importance of early recognition, timely treatment, reassessment of antibiotic needs, and prevention of infections.
This video series was developed from interviews with BLOC COVID funded sites to highlight the LHD’s lessons learned, best practices, tools developed, and provide associated resources to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in various high-risk settings for others to consider in their capacity building efforts.
