In 2021, to understand the feasibility and necessity of implementing pharyngeal gonorrhea test of cure in local health departments, NACCHO partnered with the CDC’s DSTDP and released a request for applications (RFA) for the Pharyngeal Gonorrhea Test of Cure Project.
The Population Health Innovation Lab (PHIL) conducted an evaluation of LHD data use for outbreak response in healthcare settings. We developed a fact sheet for the executive summary of this report that reviews goals for the evaluation, research methods used, results, and lessons learned for NACCHO.
LHDs across the nation actively work to eliminate TB through surveillance, case detection, and essential services. Challenges persist, but collaborative efforts and dedicated individuals like Xuan Man highlight the crucial role of LHDs in the fight against TB.
A recent CDC study demonstrates a need for LHDs and other local harm reduction programs to ensure they are engaging people who smoke drugs to offer naloxone as well as overdose prevention and response messaging and education.
NACCHO, in partnership with the CDC, is seeking content developers to create supplemental materials for a curriculum that NACCHO will use to provide new local health officials (LHOs) with the knowledge, skills, abilities, tools, and networks to successfully lead progressive and innovative health departments.
