MRC Response, Innovate, Sustain, and Equip (RISE) Awards Round 2 - Contract Modification

2023 MRC Operation Readiness Awards

The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) is pleased to announce the 2023 Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Operational Readiness Awards (ORA) which provide funding to MRC units to develop their emergency response capabilities. Funding for this opportunity is available through a cooperative agreement between NACCHO and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR). NACCHO will accept 2023 ORA applications via the NACCHO application website from Tuesday, November 1, 2022 until Friday, December 16, 2022. MRC COVID-19 Response, Innovate, Sustain, and Equip (RISE) Awards - Round 2

NACCHO, through its cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) is offering a second round of the MRC COVID-19 Respond, Innovate, Sustain, and Equip (RISE) Awards. These awards are intended to provide resources to the MRC network to support COVID-19 response efforts. This funding prioritizes building capacity for the MRC to respond, innovate to evolving requirements, sustain staffing requirements, and equip MRC units with resources needed to support their mission. The MRC RISE Awards are a competitive funding opportunity open to MRC units and state coordinators with a clearly identified need and capacity to meet the intent of this funding.

NACCHO will accept Round 2 applications via the NACCHO application website from Monday, August 8, 2022 until Friday, September 16, 2022. All necessary information regarding the program and application process may be found in the RFA. Additional resources include the following:

MRC COVID-19 Response, Innovate, Sustain, and Equip (RISE) Awards - Round 1 Through additional support from the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), NACCHO awarded 188 MRC RISE Awards totaling $9.625 million through $25,00, $50,000, and $75,000 award tiers. The second round of funding is forthcoming.
2022 Operational Readiness Awards Continuing the goals of the MRC Operational Readiness Awards (ORA), NACCHO awarded more than $1 million to support 129 units in building (Tier 1) or strengthening MRC response capabilities (Tier 2). 2021 Operational Readiness Awards Round 1 and Round 2 The 2021 ORAs aimed to continue building the operational readiness capabilities of MRC units to meet the emergency preparedness and response needs of their local, regional, or statewide stakeholders. The awards were intended to be flexible to meet the needs of all MRC units, support efforts to build and strengthen MRC capabilities, raise stakeholder awareness of MRC capabilities, and identify or sustain the integration of the MRC into local, state, and/or regional emergency response plans. 2020 COVID-19 Operational Readiness Awards This award funding supported 32 MRC units that were actively supporting or planning COVID-19 responses by building unit response capabilities through the development of response plans to support COVID-19 and providing resources to support their activities.
2020 Operational Readiness Awards The 2020 ORAs were intended to build the operational readiness capabilities of MRC volunteers and units to meet the emergency preparedness and response needs of their local, regional, or statewide stakeholders. This award funding supported 202 MRC units to increase their volunteer capacity (Tier 1) or strengthen the unit’s response capabilities as a whole (Tier 2). 2018 Challenge Awards The 2018 MRC Challenge Awards focused innovation towards projects that align with nationally recognized health initiatives, are significant at the local level, and demonstrate capability within the MRC network. Project proposals may draw from ASPR’s National Health Security Strategy (NHSS), the six Surgeon General’s Priorities which includes the National Prevention Strategy (NPS), the CDC‘s Winnable Battles, or the strategic plans of other partner organizations.
