The importance of public health preparedness in ensuring that local health departments (LHDs) can quickly respond to emerging threats and adequately protect the health and safety of their communities was underscored during the COVID-19 pandemic. LHDs are at the forefront of mobilizing public health actions to prevent the spread of the virus and ensure the health and safety of their communities while keeping essential public health services in place.
Since 2016, NACCHO has conducted the Preparedness Profile study every few years to provide a foundation for future public health preparedness initiatives.
This nationally representative survey gathers information about preparedness trends and emerging issues at LHDs to inform priorities at the local, state, and national levels.
The 2022 Preparedness Profile was released September 29, 2023. Download the report and communications toolkit below. Click here to view the press release.
