The Florida Department of Health in Orange County launched an MDRO containment response to prevent the spread of unusual resistance. Through this process, DOH-Orange staff realized that knowledge of stewardship programs was lacking in some facilities, particularly long term acute care hospitals and nursing homes. This one pager describes what an antimicrobial stewardship program is and outlines the seven core elements for stewardship programs. This was used in conjunction with other materials developed as part of a containment toolkit.
