The Florida Department of Health in Orange County launched an MDRO containment response to prevent the spread of unusual resistance. Through this process and the time spent in impacted healthcare facilities, DOH-Orange noted that the precaution signage on patients doors was not sufficient, as visitors were entering rooms without noticing the signs. In response, DOH-Orange staff developed several types of precaution signs: special contact precautions, droplet precautions, contact precautions, and airborne precautions. These signs also clarify PPE and hand hygiene steps for visitors. These were used in conjunction with other materials developed as part of a containment toolkit.
