About NACCHO Annual

NACCHO Annual is the largest gathering of local governmental public health officials in the United States. During the conference session presenters share practical information, lessons learned, and resources to prepare attendees for a more effective role in shaping the future of local public health through disease prevention intervention, wellness promotion, elimination of health inequities among individuals and communities, and expanded leadership capacity within local health.

The abstract process will open in early November.

Public Health by the Numbers. Our Story. Our Time. Our Future
The 2013 NACCHO Annual Conference took place in Dallas on July 10–12 at the Omni Dallas Hotel. The theme was “Public Health by the Numbers. Our Story. Our Time. Our Future.” The conference explored the story of public health and the future of the professionals who work every day to promote the health and safety of all people. The conference was a unique opportunity to share your experiences and network with colleagues. Attendees learned about research breakthroughs, new technologies, and innovative solutions and products in the following session tracks:

  • Organizational performance—measuring the value of local health departments
  • Practical epidemiology applications in local health departments
  • Prevention of the leading causes of death—using data to tell the story
  • Public health research
  • The public health finance balance sheet—understanding the numbers to inform strategies
  • Using data to influence policy and communicate

Never before have local health departments faced such a rapidly changing landscape. They encounter pressure for limited resources and must address increased focus on new and traditional roles, government accountability, and effectiveness. They may also feel a sense of urgency to improve management practices, develop unconventional partnerships, strategically analyze business centers, and advance technology. NACCHO Annual offers hands-on experience and real-time solutions to help you understand how to use and leverage data to inform and influence people and decisions in a changing political environment.
