Did your agency apply for Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) recognition years ago and find the process overwhelming and cumbersome? Are you curious about the program but hesitant to apply because you have heard it can be time-consuming or complex? If so, we have good news! The PPHR application process has evolved, and it is much simpler and more accessible.
Today’s PPHR process is designed to help agencies test and strengthen their public health preparedness plans without unnecessary administrative burden. Gone are the days of printing, organizing, and mailing multiple binders full of documents or shipping numerous thumb drives to NACCHO. Everything is now digital, streamlined, and easier to manage.
The updated process begins by expressing interest through our general interest form or by submitting an Intent to Apply (ITA), which opens in mid-September, for the next application period. From there, agencies attend an orientation meeting to learn more about the program requirements and timeline.
Once you are ready, you will download the application, participate in monthly technical assistance (TA) calls and learn how to hyperlink materials directly within your application, making it easier for both applicants and reviewers to navigate your documentation. When complete, applications are submitted electronically through SharePoint, simplifying submission to just a drag and drop of a file.
Enhanced communication tools make it easier than ever to connect with the PPHR team and receive timely support through email and regular interactive technical assistance calls, making the application process smoother and more collaborative.
If you have been thinking about applying for PPHR recognition, now is a great time to take another look. The process is more user-friendly, more supportive, and designed with your agency’s capacity in mind. Preparedness is an ongoing journey. Whether you’re beginning that journey with PPHR or returning after years away, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
