The Indian Health Service (IHS) has announced new HIV Primary Care Treatment Guidelines that describe care standards for adults and adolescents living with HIV/AIDS who receive care at IHS facilities.
Less than 15% of adults with disabilities meet the recommended 150 minutes each week of physical activity. With COVID-19 posing challenges to options such as fitness and recreation centers, this blog will provide guidance on how local health departments can promote physical activity for people with disabilities during the pandemic.
As part of the National Association of County and City Health Officials’ (NACCHO’s) work to support and serve 3,000 local health departments (LHDs) in the United States, NACCHO has been releasing a bi-weekly blog consisting of an up-to-date collection of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) resources for our members working at the intersection of environmental health and COVID-19.
These pocket cards — one focusing on adults, one on adolescents, and one a combination of both adults & adolescents — allow healthcare providers to access essential sexual health questions and preventive service recommendations in a clear and concise format.
LHDs lead a coordinated response to the syndemic of hepatitis, HIV and other STIs, and substance use at the local level, but limited funding, staffing challenges, and the COVID-19 pandemic impact LHDs’ ability to prevent and ultimately eliminate viral hepatitis.
CDC has updated its gonorrhea treatment guidelines to recommend treating infections with a single, higher dosage injection of ceftriaxone. A two-drug approach is no longer recommended.
December 6-12 is National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW) in the United States. NIVW is observed to remind people that there is still time and it is still important to get an influenza (flu) vaccine.
