Washington, DC, December 16, 2022 — According to a new peer-reviewed article by the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), local health departments (LHDs) were increasingly providing some level of substance use prevention services until the pandemic hit.
On December 9, 2022, the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis released a final report detailing findings of its two-year investigation into the nation’s response to COVID-19.
COVID-19 response lessons learned from Kauai District Health Office of the Hawaii Department of Health are shared in journal Health Security.
A majority of LHDs reduced BP screening services during the COVID-19 pandemic response. NACCHO’s Forces of Change survey is a periodic survey fielded to a sample of LHDs across the US to assess changes in LHD capacity driven by trends in public health. The 2020 survey focused on impacts to LHD infrastructure in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This new NACCHO report summarizes data collected in Summer 2021 from a nationally representative group of LHDs, and covers a number of domains critical to the ongoing response to the overdose epidemic including, but not limited to, funding, staffing, partnerships, and services offered.
