The Community Clean Air Ambassadors Program (CCAAP) is a capacity building program, co-developed by Public Health – Seattle & King County (PHSKC) to train community leaders and outreach workers to raise awareness on indoor air quality and equip them with tools, resources, and information to disseminate to their networks to improve their indoor air quality.
Long-term care facilities and nursing homes are facing challenging times. Between being short-staffed, COVID mitigation strategy implementation, and vaccine mandates to name a few, we recognize how important it is to maintain communication, provide education and support, as efficiently as possible.
Local health department (LHD) immunization programs have been working hard to ensure COVID-19 vaccines are available to all people in their communities. NACCHO spoke with two LHDs in Minnesota—Goodhue County Health and Human Services and Polk County Public Health— about how they have reached priority populations in their areas. Their strategies and approaches can help other LHDs do the same.
Harris County Public Health developed the COVID-19 Equity Testing Strategy to ensure equitable testing opportunities, specifically for children and infants, regardless of testing barriers.
Michigan's Genesee County Health Department provided five drive-through flu/immunization clinics this past fall to residents in surrounding cities in the county.
Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health has been a longstanding lactation support provider in the community. Historically, breastfeeding parents were offered a universal postpartum program home visit where lactation was discussed and assessed with parents. However, many parents were missing out on lactation support due to determinants of health.
