Many health departments take a very proactive role in preventing HAIs by performing site visits and assisting facilities with performing evaluations of their infection prevention and control activities. One method for collecting this valuable quality improvement information is through Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) reviews. ICARs can provide facilities with valuable quality improvement feedback regarding gaps in infection prevention practices.
