The New Haven Health Equity Alliance is one component of a pilot project between the New Haven Department of Health and the Connecticut Association of Directors of Health that aims to increase the capacity of the health department to partner with communities to develop strategies that reduce health inequities. It consists of three components: -Developing health equity index tool that looks at data and local trends to measure health equity among New Haven residents to guide decision-making. -A professional development piece that increases internal communications and collaborations between various departments. -Increasing community involvement through facilitating engagement and partnerships to identify community priorities. The pilot project is being implemented in the cities New Haven, Hartford, and Groton with a goal of eventually being incorporated into local health department activities throughout the state and the way all local health departments conduct their business.
