n 2008, Shasta County received a two-year grant from the California Endowment to start a health equity effort that included an initial focus on internal capacity and creating an equitable environment within the health department. Once all members of the health department were trained on health equity, Shasta County conducted forums and provided education to the greater community before providing mini-grants to community organizations.
