The City of Minneapolis is an urban, racially diverse area, with increased racial diversity among childrenroughly 2/3 of the youth population is identified as persons of color, while most of the city's elderly population identifies as white. The Minneapolis Department of Health and Family Services (MDHFS) had been focusing on decreasing infant mortality rates for over 25 years. Most recently, they have developed a screening tool designed to identify pregnant women at higher risk for infant mortality and link them with appropriate services to combat mortality.
