Healthy People 2020 - National Association of County and City Health Officials Partnership

Local public health finding ways to advance Healthy People across the country

NACCHO's partnership with Healthy People 2020 (HP 2020) is designed to support and increase the use of HP 2020 among local health departments (LHDs) and other organizations related to community health assessment and improvement planning. All programmatic activities will be designed to support the HP 2020 ten-year agenda for improving the Nation's health.

With fewer resources and staff, many LHDs face significant challenges in providing essential services that ensure the health and safety of their communities. The HP 2020 approach offers an evidence-based, easy-to-use tool designed to aid LHDs and other organizations in community health assessment work.

The Implementing Healthy People page provides guidance to help LHDs and other organizations use HP 2020 to conduct community health assessment and improvement planning processes.

Who's Leading the Leading Health Indicators?
HP2020_logo_big

Starting in January 2012, the HP 2020 News You Can Use updates will be transformed into a new resource known as Who's Leading the Leading Health Indicators? The leading health indicators (LHIs) are a smaller set of HP 2020 objectives that have been selected to communicate high-priority health issues to the nation.

The monthly series will spotlight an LHI topic area by providing an overview of the health topic, noting the most recent data and trends, and showcasing states, communities, or organizations that are addressing the LHIs in innovative ways. You will also continue to receive periodic updates highlighting new HP 2020 resources and events. More »
